Title:
Green Infrastructure Implementation at Home and Abroad
Description:
In Boston, NYC, and Australia various groups are working to implement green infrastructure. In Boston, biofiltration cells are being used to replace catch basins. NYC is implementing green infrastructure in a manner that avoids subsurface challenges. A green star community in Australia is being constructed using distributed green infrastructure storage and rainwater tanks. Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize subsurface challenges of installing green infrastructure in the right-of-way in residential urban areas and procedures and design considerations.
2. Discuss practical approaches to fully integrating GI components within an urban stormwater system.
3. Determine outcomes from these projects are transferrable to other places impacted by climate change and flooding.
